著者のForrest M. Mims III. は、S-100バスが革命的意義を持っていたとし、”The open Altair bus paved the way for a microcomputer revolution.”(p.27)と書いている。

本記事は、a microcomputer-based integrated business system, a complete hardware andsoftware systemとして、CRT、プリンター、外部記憶装置といったハードウェアと、文書作成、在庫管理、会計処理などの機能を持ったパッケージ・ソフトからなるシステム製品MITS 300をPertecが発表したことを伝えている。
　HDD標準装備のMITS 300/55が$15,950、2台のFDD標準装備のMITS 300/25が$11,450、パッケージ・ソフトは別売りで$4,000となっている。

Ed Robertsへのインタビューに基づく本記事によれば、Altair8800の製品のCPU選択検討時には、6800は選択の対象となっていなかった。
選択できたのは、8080,8008, 4004, the IMP·8 and the IMP-16であった。

Roberts decided on the Intel 8080 chip for his project, rejecting the older 8008 and new Motorola 6800. He was able to get an excellent deal on the chip in volume – $75 a piece for a $360 chip!
